Before you accept an insurance proposal in Korea
Look beyond the monthly price.
A monthly price is only one part of a proposal. Before deciding, separate what is covered, how long you pay, what can change and what still needs clarification.
01What is covered?
02How long do I pay?
03What can change?
04Does it fit my plans?
Start with the problem the proposal should solve
What cost or disruption are you trying to prepare for? Write that down before comparing policy names. Ask which part of the proposal addresses it, and what support you already have through another policy or your employer.
Read the conditions separately
Check the covered event, relevant exclusions, payment period, coverage period and renewal conditions for each part. Two proposals with similar monthly prices may have different conditions. Ask where each explanation appears in the actual policy documents.
Bring your plans into the comparison
Consider your budget, employment and plans for living in Korea. If you may leave, ask how that affects payment, claims and cover under the actual contract. A shorter stay alone does not determine which type of policy is suitable.
If something remains unclear
Start with the item you do not understand and the decision you are facing. Individual recommendations require the actual proposal and relevant circumstances. A translated summary should not replace the policy terms.
Sources & further checks
This guide explains general considerations, not an individual recommendation. Check your actual policy and relevant official guidance. Sources do not imply endorsement.
The source below explains payment and coverage periods. The other points are questions to check against your own proposal.
